Open Access EIA (Equality Impact Assessment) Training

Equality Impact Assessments are a process which allows organisations to consider relevant evidence in order to understand the likely or actual effect of policies, practices and decisions on people with protected characteristics.  This is an opportunity to send 1 or 2 members of staff on the course, delivered open access in Cardiff.

The first half of this training session will explain what an Equality Impact Assessment is, why they are useful and the different stages involved, including practical activities.  After lunch, the training will morph into a facilitated workshop where staff will apply the morning’s learnings to an example housing policy in a practical way, while supported by Tai Pawb’s expert staff.

This course will enable participants to:

  1. Describe what an equality impact assessment is, why we do them and the different stages involved
  2. Identify evidence that can be used to inform the assessment
  3. Identify potential impacts on protected groups and mitigating actions
  4. Recognise the process for completing different parts of the assessment process
  5. Apply their learning to an actual policy

This training is aimed at those who have not previously carried out an equality impact assessment and also those looking to refresh their knowledge of the process.  It is suitable for staff, board members and tenants involved with an organisation’s equality impact assessment process.

This course is being delivered open access but can also be booked in-house by contacting helen@taipawb.org
