\"QEDCardiff-based housing provider,\u00a0Cadwyn\u00a0Housing Association,\u00a0has been successful in achieving a\u00a0prestigious and\u00a0nationally-recognised\u00a0equality and diversity mark for\u00a0social landlords.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The QED\u00a0Award, developed by Welsh housing charity, Tai Pawb, provides a comprehensive framework for\u00a0improving the equality and diversity impact of an organisation. Awarded\u00a0by an independent panel, it\u00a0considers\u00a0on strategic areas such as governance,\u00a0leadership\u00a0and culture as well as customer-facing service provision, including access and tenant involvement.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Staff\u00a0and Board members\u00a0from across the organisation, as well tenants, contractors and partner organisations\u00a0engaged in the\u00a012-month\u00a0accreditation\u00a0process\u00a0which included staff surveys, engagement with tenants, on-site visits, a\u00a0review\u00a0of\u00a0policies and procedures and\u00a0the\u00a0production\u00a0of\u00a0an action plan. The award\u00a0includes an annual check-up\u00a0over three years\u00a0where Tai Pawb will\u00a0monitor progress on\u00a0Cadwyn\u2019s\u00a0action plan and offer\u00a0or refer to\u00a0support to meet challenges.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cadwyn\u00a0\u2013 which manages\u00a0around 2,000 homes primarily in the Cardiff area \u2013 joins\u00a0Melin\u00a0Homes,\u00a0Merthyr Valleys Homes,\u00a0Cynon Taff Community Housing\u00a0and Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association\u00a0as\u00a0the\u00a0fifth social landlord\u00a0recipient of\u00a0the award\u00a0in Wales.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting on its success,\u00a0Chief\u00a0Executive of\u00a0Cadwyn,\u00a0Kath Palmer,\u00a0said:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCadwyn\u00a0provides good quality homes and builds communities through partnership and innovation and we have a vision of achieving thriving communities.\u202f Embracing equality, diversity and inclusion is essential to us achieving our vision and meeting the QED accreditation is a step change for us as an organisation to help us improve in the way we offer services and embed our values of honesty, respect, fairness and kindness.\u202f<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span><\/i>We want Wales to be a fairer place to live, we want to achieve equality in all we do, and for people to have positive experiences of services, inclusive and meaningful engagement and we know we need to continuously improve.\u202f<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u202f”<\/span><\/i>Achieving this award has not been easy however we know it will help us in our journey of improvement and to help make a Cardiff that has interconnected communities respecting and celebrating difference, to strive for equality of outcomes for those experiencing discrimination and to be proactive, and ambitious in creating sustained change\u201d.<\/span><\/i>
