Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Awareness for Board Members

This highly interactive course will explore the critical role of boards in driving equality, diversity and inclusion in their organisations and prepare boards for setting a clear organisational approach to EDI.

The training will equip board members, leaders and governance professionals with greater understanding of the importance and application of EDI in governance through strategy, performance and assurance. It will ultimately lay foundations for developing proactive and equality conscious organisations.

Objectives - The learner will be able to:

Understand the concepts of equality, diversity and inclusion and the role of boards in leading, enabling and scrutinising their organisations on EDI

Identify aspects of inclusive culture and the role of governance in driving it

Understand the importance of diversity and aspects of inclusive recruitment

Understand their role in leading on a proactive approach to embedding equality

Be prepared for meeting legal and regulatory obligations in the context of EDI

Understand and enact the EDI principles set out in the CHC Code of Governance 2021

Be prepared to articulate the organisational approach to EDI and the place of EDI in strategy, performance and assurance

Trainers

This course is currently delivered by our Director, Alicja Zalesinska.

Target audience

This course is aimed at social housing board members and staff involved in governance.

Duration

2.5 hour bite-size session or two 2 hour sessions for a more in depth discussion
