Experience and interests: Alicja Zalesinska is the Chief Executive of Tai Pawb, leading the organisation’s work to advance equality, diversity and social justice in housing across Wales. With a background spanning grassroots equality work, policy, research and strategic leadership, she brings deep expertise shaped by roles in the equality sector and academic studies. Before joining Tai Pawb in 2012, she worked in finance and in race advocacy, focusing on outreach, advice and policy development to improve inclusion for minority communities.
Born in Poland and moving to Wales in the early 2000’s – Alicja draws deeply on her personal background and on her lived experience of migration, adaptation and navigating social justice, which underpin her empathy, understanding and advocacy. She believes strongly in equality work grounded in compassion, dialogue and cultural change.
Under her leadership, Tai Pawb has emerged as a leading catalyst for change in housing equality policy and practice across Wales. Her strategic influence has helped secure meaningful policy shifts, ensuring equality and anti-racism are central to national housing priorities, while shaping national thinking on the right to adequate housing.
Outside of work, Alicja enjoys reading, languages and running her own podcast, as well as camping with her partner and twins in the Welsh outdoors.
