A part-time, permanent Scheme Support Officer at our Young Persons Support Accommodation Service, Llys Awen, Gorseinon. The working pattern for the role is based on a 2 week rolling rota - 6hrs per shift, 3 afternoons per week, 16:00pm - 22:00pm.
About the role -
Llys Awen provides 24-hour temporary supported accommodation in the Gorseinon area of Swansea for young people aged between 16 to 21 years old. The staff team specialise in providing support within a psychology informed environment. Our Scheme Support Officers enable our young people to achieve their goals and empower them to lead independent lives.
This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has a passion for helping young people recognise their true potential and will provide you with a rewarding career. You will act as a first point of contact for the people we support. You will build positive relationships by helping them make a transition into independent living and advise on move on options. You will provide advice with budgeting and money management, including welfare benefits, as well as support them in a practical way, with regards to day to day living skills.
As a scheme support officer you will be required to:
Engaging and interacting with the people we support to help them connect with other support services
Supporting Project Workers in delivering workshops relating to tenancy management and health and wellbeing
Carrying out health and safety checks + wellbeing checks within the scheme
Addressing any additional needs, the people we support might have
Building community links and establishing partnerships that benefit our customers
You will be faced with complex behaviours and needs. You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental and manage disputes or conflicts appropriately.
Skills and Experience Needed -
A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations
It would be desirable for the successful candidate to have a full drivers licence and access to a vehicle.
