We are excited to be bringing back an in-person conference for the first time since 2019 under the theme 'More in Common', recognising that we can achieve much more working together towards a fairer Wales than we ever would do apart. As ever, conference is a fantastic opportunity for to gather alongside us to explore some of the biggest challenges across the equalities spectrum in Welsh housing.

Previous conferences have featured headline sessions from Baroness Doreen Lawrence OBE on building an anti-racist society, comedienne Francesca Martinez on disability rights, Lisa Power MBE on LGBT+ issues and Moyra Samuels on the fight for justice following the Grenfell tragedy.

Conference this year promises again to be an event well-worth attending and the team at Tai Pawb is looking forward to hosting you.

Our line-up of speakers to date includes:

  • Jamie Burton KC of Doughty Street Chambers, London (and co-founder of Just Fair). Jamie has extensive experience of representing individuals, families and communities in human rights cases and has dealt with a portfolio of homelessness, housing and disability issues. Jamie acted for those impacted by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. He will discuss at conference the human rights policy agenda and the forward-movements to make housing a human right.

  • An ‘in conversation’ session with Prof Laura McAllister, exploring her varied career and her support of social justice, human rights and the formation of public policy in Wales. This session will be hosted by Mica Moore of Wales Commonwealth and GB Olympic fame, through her sprinting and bob-sleigh accolades

  • A panel session with senior housing colleagues in Wales looking at the positive and sustained changes that Tai Pawb’s ‘QED’ accreditation has had on their organisations relating to equality, inclusion and social justice

  • Exploring the ways in which we can break down barriers for those most marginalised by society, hearing particularly from projects working with asylum seekers and refugees and Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities who have encountered inherent difficulties in seeking support. We’ll also touch on Tai Pawb’s work to increase the supply and suitability of accommodation for marginalised communities

  • Ancillary workshop sessions focusing on poverty and inequality, psychological safety and good practice in accessibility
