Neuro Inclusion 2.0: An Exploration

 

This 2.5 hour session dives deeper into neurodiversity and gives space for delegates to reflect on their own practices, focusing on how neuro-inclusive they currently are.   

 

Course Synopsis:

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to foster inclusive spaces where neurodiverse individuals thrive. Through practical tools and case studies, participants will learn to champion neuro-inclusivity in their workplaces and communities.

 

By the end of this session, delegates will be able to:

  • Define Key Terminology: Understand and explain terms such as neurodiversity, neurodivergent, and neurotypical, as well as identify some common neurodivergent profiles (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia).
  • Understand Key Neurodiversity Profiles: Describe the seven most common neurodivergent conditions and recognise common co-occurring conditions.
  • Recognise and Dispel Myths: Identify and challenge common myths about neurodiversity, supporting an accurate understanding of neurodivergent experiences.
  • Identify Neurodivergent Presentations: Recognise ways that each condition may manifest in different settings, including communication, behaviour, and sensory processing.
  • Appreciate the Strengths of Neurodivergent Individuals: Recognise the unique strengths and contributions that neurodivergent individuals can bring to various environments, including the workplace.
  • Understand Challenges and Barriers: Acknowledge the potential challenges and barriers neurodivergent individuals may encounter and consider their impact on inclusion and equity.
  • Reflect on Current Practices: Evaluate personal and organisational practices to identify areas for improvement in neuro-inclusivity.
  • Develop Neuro-Inclusive Practices: Apply specific strategies to foster a neuro-inclusive environment, focusing on flexibility, communication, and supportive adjustments.

 

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for all housing and support professionals at all levels who want to increase their understanding of Neurodiversity in the workplace and help develop inclusive services for their tenants/customers.
